Comminution Sales Engineer


Business Need / Purpose of Role:

Weir Minerals is a leading global manufacturer of highly specialized mining equipment. A recent strategic acquisition enhances our product portfolio and will let us leverage on new customer groups. For this exciting new business we are seeking strong personalities that have a hands-on mentality and have a willingness to sustain in a start-up type of business. A key to growth is the successful management of the relation to our international distributors. The candidate will be responsible to work with our existing channel partners and will need to develop new distributors.



  • ● Extension of distribution network in assigned territory in coordination with our regional daughter companies 
  • ● Technical and commercial support and training of local daughter companies and distributors
  • ● Sustainable increasing of market share of the TRIO product line across assigned territory
  • ● Coordination of key account activities with sales management
  • ● Introduction of new products to the market in allocated territory
  • ● Participation in local trade shows
  • ● Achieving of sales budget in allocated territory
  • ● Frequent customer visits – international travel 30% - 60%
  • ● Continuous observation of market trends and competitors as well as efficient communication into the Weir organization
  • ● Development of country specific sales strategies for crushing and screening equipment
  • ● Technical identification of customer requirements and coordination of techno-commercial project quotations and follow up
  • ● Forecasting and evaluation of relevant business opportunities in assigned territory



  • ● Meeting the budget in assigned territory
  • ● Number and performance of qualified sales partners


Education and/or Experience:

  • ● Engineering or business bachelor’s degree
  • ● Experience and proven record to manage and develop international distributors
  • ● Contract management
  • ● Background in crushing and screening preferred
  • ● Conduct pioneering work, think out of the box and willingness to sustain in a newly started business segment


Product Knowledge: 

  • ● Preferably a background in mining or crushing and screening
  • ● In depth understanding of heavy duty construction equipment


Communication Skills:

  • ● Speaks clearly and persuasively
  • ● Listens actively and seeks clarification
  • ● Asks appropriate questions
  • ● Able to effectively present products
  • ● Adjusts style and language to meet the needs of audience
  • ● Shares relevant information

Reasoning Ability:

  • ● Ability to define problems, collect and interpret data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 


Computer Skills:

  • ● Opportunity reporting by SAP CRM software
  • ● Standard MS office applications


Work Environment:

  • ● Will be required to travel regularly for business and to customer meetings
  • ● Desire and knowledge to sell heavy duty equipment/construction machines
  • ● Intercultural skills to relate to different cultures across Europe
  • ● English a must, German and/or French a plus
  • ● Negotiation skills and ability to turn project business into orders
  • ● Can do attitude and team spirit
  • ● Business acumen and integrity
